friday fabulosity! ho ho holiday cocktails…

’tis the season for parties!  and you know what that means…

cocktails!  whether it’s your office christmas party, an intimate family dinner, a festive fete for fifty, or a holiday wedding, how about make your cocktails part of the details?

of course there are the ‘standard’ holiday libations – thanksgiving? apple cider. christmas? egg nog and hot chocolate. new years? a champagne toast.  we encourage you to step outside of your christmas box and spice up your tasty temptations!

instead of your grandma’s apple cider (which we’re sure is just fab), try these snazzy tips:

Imagehollow out apples and serve your cider in them, float an orange and top it with the essential cinnamon stick.  if you’re celebrating with a low-key crowd, this is a perfect no-alcohol option.Image

or, if you’re crowd liked your cider ‘spiked’, create your own cider-infused vodka. add vodka to a little apple cider, sliced apples, a few orange slices, cloves, a bit of brown sugar to taste, and some cinnamon sticks and ta-da!  it’s the holidays in a glass!

finally, how about a shaken treat?  mix 1/2 an ounce of amaretto, 1/2 an ounce of vodka, two ounces of cider, and a dash of honey, and garnish with a cinnamon stick for a perfect winter martini.  make it a double if you dare!

Imagefor a low-key egg nog treat, use a stencil to create a holiday design atop yourImage glass.  so easy and yet, so chic!  it’s all in the details!

when it’s time for a kick, add an ounce of van gogh vanilla vodka to your nog, 3/4 of an ounce of amaretto, shake it over ice, and pour in a lovely glass and garnish.  perfection!

Imagespice up your hot chocolate by adding a shot of van gogh dutch chocolate vodka.  it is deeee-licious!  or make it minty with some peppermint schapps!  this is my personal fave!

other holiday imbibements?

try the cocoa candy cane cocktail – mix 1/2 an ounce of creme de cocoa, 1/2 an ounce of peppermint schnapps, and 1/2 an ounce of vodka, shake over ice, pour, and garnish with a mini candy cane.  to be extra festive, crush candy canes and use them to rim the glass.

or the white christmas – mix 1 ounce of white chocolate godiva liquer, 1 ounce of peppermint schnapps, and 1 ounce of vanilla over ice, shake, and garnish with a tea leaf.

how about a santa’s little helper – mix 5 ounces of apple juice, 1 1/2 ounces of apple schnapps, 1 1/2 ounes of butterscotch schnapps, and 1 1/2 ounces of cinnamon schnapps.  mix and serve!

since christmas is a few weeks away and you’ll no doubt want to perfect your recipes before then, hop in your sleigh, head on over to the package store, and start mixing to find your perfect holiday cocktail!  but please remember to drink responsibly this holiday season.

as always, love, laugh, and plan!
