friday fabulosity! a pop of color…

it’s a new year…and i’m feeling good!

welcome back to the first friday fab post of 2012!  yay!  we’re so exciting to be spotting and sharing only the newest and hottest trends of 2012 and starting ever-so-soon we’ll be featuring our favorite people in our vendor spotlights and going on the scene to bring you the best of the best when it comes to charleston venues.  so keep in touch! but now, on to our very first friday fab of 2012…

the first time i saw this new trend was this summer.  my bride jess showed me her yellow tulle skirt to be worn under her dress and i fell in love.  it’s the perfect pop of color to your a typically all white ensemble, no?  a “business on top, party underneath” if you will!  clearly even the groom loved this unique touch.  and now, thanks to my trend-setting bride, this pretty little detail is popping up all over the place.

spring will be here before you know it.  and what’s so great about spring?  the beautiful colors obvi.  so, will you be sporting this new trend at your spring wedding?  i think it’s just fab!

see you next friday loves!  live, love and plan!

emily and martin

meet mr. and mrs. avery!  emily and martin are an amazing couple.  you can see their love for eachother clear as day just watching them interact with each other.  emily and martin had a whirlwind engagement – 6 months, start to finish!  their day was perfect, just as they are.  the forecast called for rain but not a drop fell.  it was an early fall day with a little crisp to the air.  surrounded by friends and family, these two danced the night away.  thanks for letting us be a part of your wedding!

emily and martin chose the pavilion at pepper plantation as the background for their wedding and reception.  the open-air farmhouse is positioned on a beautiful lake and features soaring wooden rafters, a gazebo over the water, double fireplaces, and a firepit.  they got married next to the pond with the fountain as a backdrop.  emily’s brother in law officiated the ceremony and kept everyone laughing.  emily’s friends created beautiful flowers for her ceremony featuring fab fall colors.  she used a variety of different glassware to create a rustic, eclectic look.

another unique touch to the wedding day…emily found an old window frame and got a talented friend to paint a tree which became the guest book.  guests left thumbprints to decorate the tree and now emily and martin have a truly one-of-a-kind piece of art created by the people that love them most!

emily was the most laid back bride ever.  she just wanted people to have fun.  she sported her favorite cowboy boots with her beautiful dress – not sure many brides could pull it off, she sure did!  another creative touch?

emily and martin chose ice cream cupcakes  instead of a traditional cake or even cupcakes.  um, yum!  they were a total hit!

the luke cunningham band was the entertainment for the night and kept everyone dancing.  emily and martin also had fresh kettle corn popping all night as a favor.  at the end of the evening, after the cupcakes were eaten, and the toasts were toasted, emily and martin waved farewell to everyone and were off to married bliss!

jessica and robert

i got the pictures from jessica and robert’s wedding in clemson!  what an amazing couple.  i’m not kidding.  these two light each other up.  i felt so blessed to be a part of their wedding.

jessica and robert presented me with a very interesting opportunity with this wedding and a bit of a challege.  jessica and robert got married in a quaint church in pendleton, south carolina, near clemson, and their reception was at madren center at clemson university.  the challenge?  i’ve never been to clemson!  i’ve never been afraid of a challenge so away we went!  jessica and i did all of our planning through layouts and diagrams, photos and spreadsheets.  i made countless calls to her vendors, i gathered all of my supplies…and on friday, we packed up and…to clemson we went!  we arrived at the pavilion and it was just as anticipated.  the day was flawless.  we finished set-up ahead of schedule and the party was absolutely wonderful.

the venue is on a magnificent lake.  and the sunset?  the pictures don’t do it justice.  it was a perfect sunset, a perfect night, a perfect couple.  jessica and robert used marshall graham photography.  he is incredible!  so creative and he’s always capturing the greatest shots.  jessica used a citrus palette and brought the lemon yellow, lime green, and cream in with about 60 paper lanterns.  we hung them between the rafters to frame the space.

jessica used clemson florist for her bouquets and florals and oh my! did they do an incredible job!  carla was such a joy to work with!  jessica used hydrangeas and calla lilies to make a dramatic statement with tall cylinder vases on the tables.  she used votive candles and her bridesmaids bouquets as additional table decor.

to compliment her citrus theme, cakes by shirley created a mastercakepiece!  complete with their monogram this cake was not only beautiful – but oh so yummy!  jessica created her own cake stand, putting lemons in votive holders, and turning them upside down.  she finished the look with a square glass top.  so creative and what a personal added touch!

so not only was the couple incredible, their family and friends are fabulous clemson tigeras well.  we had so much fun with them all!  the bridal party echoed the bride and groom’s excitement – made up of friends, family, and the groom’s dad – they danced all night long.  oh!  and did i mention?  the clemson tiger made an appearance?  he was a huge hit.

at the end of the evening, everyone said goodbye to the newlyweds and sent them off to their new life together.  thanks for letting elle courtney events be a part of your day!
